EU RoHS Annex IV updates a mercury exemption
The new directive will take effect 20 days after its publication in the official EU gazette.
According to (EU) 2023/1437, Article 49 exemption is added to Annex IV of the EU RoHS Directive:
The EU RoHS restricted substance exemption includes Annex III and Annex IV, with Annex III exemption clauses applicable to categories 1-11 electronic and electrical products, while Annex IV only applies to categories 8 and 9 electronic and electrical products. This update mainly targets category 9 products, so manufacturers of category 9 products need to focus on the latest developments in this exemption.
The specific categories of electronic and electrical products in categories 1-11 are as follows:
The update of Annex IV of the EU RoHS Directive mainly focuses on the exemption content for Category 9 (monitoring and control equipment, including industrial monitoring and control equipment). Exemption clauses are an important component of the EU RoHS Directive. The validity period of EU RoHS exemption clauses has a significant impact on the compliance of enterprise products with the RoHS Directive. Enterprises should continue to pay attention to regulatory dynamics and respond to trade barriers.
